Prince Edward Island: One of the three maritime provinces of eastern Canada. Prince Edward Island includes the island with the same name as the province and surrounding outlying islands. The coastal province has a population of 140,204 (2011 statistics), which is the smallest in China and has the highest population density in China even though it covers an area of 5660km ² (2011 statistics). In addition, it is the 104th largest island in the world (23rd in Canada). Prince Edward Island is named after Prince Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, father of Queen Victoria. Its capital is Charlottetown.
